Shelby Perlis

Actor

What are you currently working on? I recently finished a production of How I Learned to Drive at the Costa Mesa Playhouse, and I’m looking forward to auditioning for more shows soon!
What’s been inspiring you recently? My students: I’m an English instructor at CSUF and Fullerton College, and my students’ creative and resilient minds especially in our current social contexts are such a light.

Also: still riding the high of Wicked Part One… I live to see theatre people with an unlimited budget.
Who are or were your theatrical heroes? Sutton Foster and Lindsay Mendez are my go-tos. The range! The personality! The choices!

Also: my twin brother! Talk about stage presence and committing to every role. Sheesh.
What kind of theatre excites you? The immersive, the twists, the new, the RELEVANT. Fun is always a plus, but I really love to see shows that have something important to ask us, here and now.
Outside of a theatre, what’s your favorite hot spot in Orange County? Pour Company in Downtown Fullerton and always the CSUF Arboretum (is a garden a hot spot?)
